OmniDock Privacy Policy

App data and update checks

OmniDock keeps your settings, window previews, and optional clipboard history on your Mac. It does not upload this content or sell or share it with third parties.

You don't need an account. The app has no analytics or advertising SDKs and does not send usage data to a server.

OmniDock connects to GitHub's public Releases API over HTTPS shortly after launch and when you check for updates yourself. These requests do not include your OmniDock settings, clipboard contents, file paths, window information, or usage history. If you approve an update, the app downloads that release from GitHub.

Settings stored on your Mac

Your feature settings and app shortcuts are saved on this Mac. OmniDock uses them only to run the features you turn on.

Clipboard history

Clipboard History is off by default. If you turn it on, supported copied items are saved in OmniDock's Application Support folder on this Mac. A record may include text, rich text, HTML, links, image data, or file URLs. It also includes the source app's name and bundle identifier, the copy time, and a fingerprint used to recognize duplicates.

OmniDock skips items that the source app explicitly marks as temporary, concealed, or automatically generated. It cannot identify every sensitive item. Your history is never uploaded. You can keep between 1 and 999 entries, delete individual entries, or clear the whole history in the app.

Copied content, preview text, thumbnails, and source app names are encrypted on disk with AES-256-GCM. OmniDock generates a random key on first use. The duplicate-checking fingerprint also uses a key, so it does not reveal what you copied. Copy times, item types, sizes, and copy counts remain readable so OmniDock can list and clean up the history.

The key is a separate file next to the history database, with access limited to the user account that owns it. The database alone is not enough to read the encrypted content; the key is also needed. This does not protect the history from other software running under your user account, or from someone who has both the database and its key.

If OmniDock can't create or read the key, it keeps that session's history in memory instead of saving it unencrypted. History encrypted with a key that is no longer available is discarded.

How system permissions are used

OmniDock may request the following macOS permissions:

• Accessibility: identify Dock icons and bring windows forward, hide apps, or close windows when you ask.
• Input Monitoring: detect Dock icon clicks, operate the optional Option-Tab switcher, and recognize pointer gestures for optional window drag zones. OmniDock does not record or save typed text.
• Screen Recording: generate window thumbnails, including live previews and one-time static snapshots.
• Finder Extension: add the OmniDock commands you turn on to Finder's right-click menu.
• Folder Access: remember a folder you approve using a security-scoped bookmark. This lets New File write to that folder without asking for access to your whole file system.

These permissions are used locally. OmniDock does not upload screen contents, keyboard input, window contents, file contents, shortcut bindings, or app usage data.

Website access

The OmniDock website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit the site, Cloudflare may process standard connection information needed to deliver and protect it, such as IP addresses, requested URLs, request times, browser or system information, and traffic routing data. Cloudflare handles this information under its Privacy Policy.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand website visits and page performance. Its browser script measures page views and loading performance, with reports grouped by page, referring site, country, browser, operating system, and device type. Cloudflare states that this service does not track individual visitors across its customers' websites.

This website measurement is separate from the OmniDock app, which has no analytics SDK and does not send app usage data. We do not add advertising cookies, fingerprinting, or session recordings to the website. Website visits are not a count of downloads or app installations.

Download button counts

We separately count accepted download-button clicks on this website. Our Cloudflare-hosted counter stores only the UTC date, a known website page, the download format (DMG or ZIP), and an aggregate count. It does not store IP addresses, browser identifiers, query strings, referring URLs, cookies, fingerprints, or individual event records. Cloudflare still processes connection information to deliver the request as described above.

This counter does not send a request when Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is enabled, or when the page URL includes ?stats=off. A failed statistics request does not block the download. Counts can miss clicks and do not measure unique people, completed downloads, or installations; they should not be combined with website visits as an exact conversion rate.

Reports use a rolling 90-day window. Older aggregates are removed in limited batches as new clicks arrive and through periodic maintenance. Without traffic or maintenance, older rows can remain stored beyond 90 days. Cloudflare D1 recovery backups may retain deleted data for the applicable backup period.

Support messages

If you contact OmniDock support, you choose to provide your email address, message, and any attachments you send. Cloudflare Email Routing and Gmail process this information to deliver your request and allow us to reply.

We use support messages only to handle your request. We keep them only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the issue and provide any necessary follow-up support. You can ask us to delete them at any time by emailing support@omnidock.app.

Third-party services

The OmniDock app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services.

The public source repository and release downloads are hosted on GitHub. The app uses GitHub for update checks and downloads that you approve. If the website is configured to show a star count, your browser requests public repository information directly from the GitHub API. GitHub applies its own privacy practices to API requests, downloads, repository visits, and issue submissions.

Policy updates

This policy may change when OmniDock, the website, or the support process changes. The updated version and effective date will be published on this page.
